At Little Folks Day Nurseries we follow Early Years Foundation Stage. Early Years Foundation Stage sets out statutory guidelines on children’s safety, welfare and development. All of our settings follow all the statutory guidelines at all times. In addition, we use Development Matters part when assessing children’s progress.
Our parents are involved in children’s assessment process right from the start. During your first induction we ask you to fill out a questionnaire based on Development matters so that as soon as your child starts with us we can ensure appropriate activities and next steps are set for them.
We place strong emphasis on the Three Characteristics of Effective Learning throughout your child’s journey with Little Folks:
Playing and Exploring
Active Learning
Creating and Thinking Critically
We ensure that throughout the day children will experience and explore activities that allow them to develop and progress across the seven areas of learning:
Prime areas (especially emphasised with babies):
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Specific areas:
Literacy
Maths
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
We believe that all children learn at their own pace, and therefore our Key Person system allows for staff to support children individually. We like to ensure that children are allowed time to explore and freely choose their activities, while staff are present to support and challenge them further.
